On the morning of September 11th, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck the South Pacific island nation of Papua New Guinea (PNG). Since its commissioning in December 2012, the Ramu project has experienced dozens of earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above and up to magnitude 7.5 within 100km of the project site, and all project plant facilities have remained generally stable, structurally reliable and smoothly operating.
